The 24th Edmonton Winter Triathlon was held at William Hawrelak Park on Sunday, February 16th. Over 40 athletes participated in individual and group race. A different format was adopted this year because the pond closure. So the athletes were trying something new this time without skating event. Instead they engaged an additional skiing event. They all finished 5 km run, 5 km freestyle ski and 10 km classic ski in an hour and a half or so. The temperature was around -10 Celsius that morning. It is relatively comfortable for winter sports. Edmonton Winter Triathlon is expecting more athletes next year for its 25th anniversary and the return of skating event.
