Edmonton Japanese Community Association (EJCA) is presenting the annual Hina Matsuri, also named as Doll’s Day or Girls’ Day, which is a long tradition being celebrated each year on March 3rd for over a thousand years in Japan. The crowd gathered at the EJCA on March 12th to observe the celebration. There are displays of dolls on 7 platforms following a specific order with the Emperor and Empress on the top tier. On the day of celebration, families will pray for the safety of their daughters and children. The girls will put on kimono and enjoy special treats like colorful hina-arare crackers and rice cakes.
