A week long Silver Skate Festival happily ended on February 21st with Kortebaan which is a Dutch traditional outdoor speed skating sprint race. Pairs of skaters race down a 160m route on a frozen pond at Hawrelak Park. Over the race, skaters are eliminated one by one and there left two finalists standing. The winner will be awarded with a trophy and a ham. There have been many speed skaters including provincial and national athletes coming for this fun and exciting race.
